And the fighting scene in this episode (episode 5) is my favourite fighting scene of all! The one when Ning Que fights all the enemies while carrying Sang Sang and her black umbrella on his back is epic! This episode made me decide to download all the episodes and saved them all. He even said (more or less), "Who told you that she's the daughter of Underworld God?! Speaking of her father, it's me! I'm her father! I'm the one who found her among the stack of dead bodies!" The scene where Sang Sang then said to Ning Que to leave her and said sorry because she caused so much trouble for him, is one of the most heart-breaking scene in this drama. Ning Que was the only one who wanted to protect her with all costs. So then she was hunted by people around the world, that wanted her death, to prevent the Ever Night happens. But later it is known that it's Sang Sang, who was actually the daughter of Underworld God. Ning Que was once suspected to be the child of Underworld God, that would bring Ever Night, or apocalypse, to the world. Arrived at Master Qi Shan, apparently he couldn't cure Sang Sang, but the he made Sang Sang to becomes his disciple. Fu Zi couldn't cure her so he suggested Ning Que to bring her to his friend, Master Qi Shan. So the story in season 2 is the continuation of season 1, where Sang Sang fell ill because she helped Ning Que in fighting against General Xia Hou before. They look comfortable each other, that's what important :) And I think she's a perfect choice for Sang Sang role. This is the first time I know about her, and I think she had a great chemistry with Dylan. In fact, if it's not Dylan who's in the drama, I wouldn't watch it since I'm not familiar with the actor XD And for Song Yiren, I never watched any of her dramas before. As the one who just watch season 2 without watching season 1, I really don't mind Dylan's portrayal of Ning Que, I think he had done a great job here in season 2. On the other side, I heard that Dylan's fans, especially the shippers of Dylan and Shen Yue from Meteor Garden, bashed Song Yiren, the actress who plays as Sang Sang, saying she had zero chemistry with Dylan. The fans of season 1 bashed him quite much, saying that season 2 was a flop compared to season 1. So there's a huge burden for Dylan to play as Ning Que in season 2. Ning Que was played by Arthur Chen, who was highly praised for his role there. In season 1, it's not Dylan who plays Ning Que. And the romantic relationship is developed in season 2. And their platonic love then grows into a romantic one. Ning Que and Sang Sang went through many adventures. Ning Que then managed to be a student, the 13th student, of Fu Zi, the greatest master in the story. Then he found a baby girl among the stack of dead bodies, she is Sang Sang. His family was murdered in a massacre when he was around 8 (maybe, I forgot his age actually). The story evolves around a young man named Ning Que. So I was fully equipped then, ready to continue the story in season 2 XD Thankfully, my sister found a website that did recaps for each episode in season 1 (what a dedicated fan!), she read the whole story and summarized it. But since I was really interested in the story, I wanted to know the story in season 1 too. So I continued to watch it.Īt first, since it is the 2nd season, I had a hard time to memorize the characters (which are so many! And they all appear all of sudden in the first episode), and the quick recaps of season 1 in the 1st episode didn't help much. I wasn't bored with it, I found the story quite interesting instead. If I couldn't stand it, I'd drop it right away. I watched episode 1 and I only download few early episodes. I'm familiar with Dylan Wang, since I watched the whole episodes of Meteor Garden 2018, so I decided to give it a try. So then I found this drama, Ever Night season 2. Then I remembered I saw a news before that Dylan Wang, the actor who played Dao Ming Shi in Meteor Garden 2018 had a role in a Wuxia drama.
I had hard times to decide which drama to watch since I'm not familiar with Chinese drama. So I looked for Chinese historical drama a.k.a Wuxia drama. I wanted to watch a drama with many episodes in this quite depressing stay at home time.
I came across this drama when I wanted to watch something new aside Japanese drama.
